No Croutons Required

No Croutons Required is a monthly soup and salad challenge hosted by myself and Lisa from Lisa's Kitchen. The challenge is vegetarian based, but we hope it will just be a great line up of good food that anyone can enjoy!

Our first, ever challenge was hosted by Lisa. And, boy that was a round-up and a half! We had 71 delicious entries, I mean, can you believe that? It was just mad!

The winner of our first challenge, to make a vegetarian soup that even the most carnivorous diner would drool over, was the super talented Johanna with her Wanton Dumplings in Ginger Broth.

Doesn't that look stunning?

Well done Johanna!

So now it is my turn to host.

The No Croutons Required challenge for March is to make a spicy soup that will tingle on the tongue.

When you have posted your soup, email me at nocroutonsrequired@googlemail.com with a link to your post and a photo of your soup. Last entries need to be in by 20th March. Check out the rules here!

  1. I'm sure you will do a wonderful job hosting our second challenge. If we get as many entries as last time, expect to spend many hours in front of a computer screen. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. I already know what my submission will be.

  8. That sounds like a good offer David! Is this a trick to make me eat some tofu?

  9. Looks like a delicious entry--coming from one of the most carnivorous diners! ;-)

  10. Will have to think about this one... My favourite spicy soup has lamb in it so that won't do!

  12. Don't worry - you'll know it when it happens, because we tend to like to rub things in that way, so that you know that you're liking something you didn't think you'd like. ;)

I'm just wondering at how spicy you'd be willing to eat, really. We were thinking something of an Asian soup (which might contain tofu, but in chunks) ... plus Thai bird peppers. Nothing like the heat of them....

  13. Spicy soup? Hold on a mo, I've got a nice Carrot & Dahl recipe that I've been wanting to try out somewhere.
I'm thoroughly enjoying taking part in this event.

  16. Hi Mike, It does look delicious!

Definitely skip the lamb Wendy, for this one anyway!

Hey Jen, Hope that's a cosy hat, it is getting a bit chilly here!

You are worrying me now David, you do know I am a wuss when it comes to chilli, just ask Lisa!

Sounds good Lynn, just don't use your food processor for the carrots, they may just finish it off!

    Hey Deb, can't wait!

    Thanks Jenn!

  21. Hey Holler.

It's a lovely cosy stripey hat from Accessorize - I wear it all the time to ward off the cold (and hides bed head very well!). Not sure if it really helps with the thinking but hey, it's worth a try...
