Berry & Custard Cake
This cake has been in my head for weeks now. I knew I just had to make it as soon as I saw it. Although, to be honest, I get this feeling about most of the the cakes that the Caked Crusader dreams up. That girl bakes up a storm!
I nearly lost this recipe. I stupidly didn't bookmark it and when I decided it was time to make the cake I realised, in horror that I didn't have the recipe and couldn't remember who had posted it. It took a lot of searching to find it again, so I am hoping this will be a learning curve for me!
I will now let your drool over the cake in peace!
A sponge base filled with juicy raspberries and blackberries, coated in a blanket of creamy custard, topped with a sinful amount of whipped cream and jewelled with more delicious Scottish raspberries.

wow - that looks amazingly impressive - imagine arriving at someone's place with this!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! I hope you managed to get some good weather to eat it with!
ReplyDeleteOh yummy, this is the second rich dessert I have seen this morning .. and here I sit with just a cup of java. May I have a wee piece?

ReplyDeleteHi Johanna, it was well received. I do have to get one of those cake tins, where the lid covers all of the cake and lifts off.
ReplyDeleteNo, I am afraid not Lysy, it is still pouring down here, which is just encouraging all those darn weeds in the garden!
Hi Ohio Mom, help yourself!
Hi Julia, I am so glad I found the recipe again. I am not a cakey person, but I had great fun making this.

ReplyDeleteGreat entry to bookmarked recipes!
I had a bunch of recipes I found online through bloggers that I had copied and saved to my hard drive just waiting for the moment to make. Well, my hard drive just crashed and I couldn't get any of the data off of it. So I completely understand how it goes when you see something but can't remember which blogger posted it.

ReplyDeleteHi VV, that is awful news! I lost everything on my hard drive once and it was really dreadful. I still think I am not as careful as I should be with backing things up. You become reliant and trusting of your computer, don't you?
