Top 21 Valentine Gifts for your True Love

Valentines Day is a bit of fun isn't it?

old photo of Graham & I (1993)
Oh how we took it all so seriously when we were young. Would be receive a card or gift? We were in a state of expectation all day.

Graham and I used to always celebrate Valentines Day with a gift, a card and a lovingly home cooked meal, but with the arrival of Cooper, it just didn't seem as important any more. Maybe it is time to change all that.

I've searched for the best Valentine gifts around for the love of your life, be that a partner, husband, wife or child. I hope you'll have fun looking through them and find inspiration. Of course there are a few foodie gifts in there too. I'm sure you expected no less.

  1. World's Hottest Chilli Powders In A Matchbox (£5) notonthehighstreet.com - If the love of your life likes things spicy, surprise them with this fun matchbox full of the some of the hottest chilli powders available.
  2. Continental Tasting Heart Collection (£19.99) Thorntons If your loved one has a sweet tooth, why not buy them this huge box of chocolates from Thorntons. You know you're going to get a box of delicious chocolates (which they might share) and this box comes in at a whopping 570g. My favourite is the Sicillian Lemon Mousse, a light tart creamy mousse covered in chocolate. I could eat a whole box of just these.
  3. Telephone Box Rectangular Cufflinks (£15) Marks and Spencer - I love these quirky cufflinks from M&S. Something a bit different.
  4. Box of Eight Matchstick Biscuits (£10) notonthehighstreet.com - You could try to make these yourself of course, but if you are short on time you can buy them online.

5.  Bartholomew Bear (£15) Jellycat - Jellycat bears are the softest you can find. A great gift for the little ones in your life or those that are young at heart.
6.  Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc (£10.98) Asda - This is my favourite wine. It really is special. It's a bit pricey, so I usually wait until it is on special offer, but this is a special occasion after all.
7.  Passion Fruit Chocolate Truffles £3.85 Hotel Chocolat - These truffles are the best you will ever taste. In fact don't buy them for your loved one, buy them for yourself! The ganache is fruity, tart and creamy, covered by smooth white chocolate. They are divine! Oh and they come in a box of 6 all for you.
8.  Dispatch Bag (£49.50) Marks and Spencer - A stylish despatch bag for the man in your life.

9.  Prosecco (£59.94 for a case of 6) Marks and Spencer - This Italian Prosecco from M&S is rather easy to drink. One of the best I have tried actually. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. You can pick it up from your local branch in single bottles or order a case online. They often have a special offer on this one too.
10.  Heart Shortcake Biscuits (£3) Marks and Spencer - Shortcake biscuits covered in white chocolate and jazzy sprinkles, such a nice treat. Pop them in a lunch box as a surprise treat on Valentines Day.
11.  Colour Burst Collection of Milk, Dark & White Chocolates (£15) - I love this chocolate selection. Fruity compotes enrobbed in chocolate. Raspberry compote wrapped in a white chocolate, blackcurrant and apple in dark chocolate, strawberry and redcurrant in milk chocolate and lemon and lime in  dark chocolate. Mmmmmmm!

12.   Blossom Organiser  (£23) Filofax - This cute ditsy organiser is a pleasure to use and so pretty.  It's still early enough in the year that this is a great gift and of course next year you can add a new diary section to it. Diary, to-do list, contacts and index.
13.  Love Me Do Raspberry Fusion  (£3.85) Hotel Chocolat - I love HC fruit chocolate, they just do it so well. I never found another fruit chocolate that comes close. Happy days!
14.  Personalised Framed Name Definition Print (£18.75) - notonthehighstreet, com - Have a personalised print made up with the first letter of your loved ones name and the meaning of their name, These come framed in a range of colours.
15.  Salter ColourWeigh Electronic Kitchen Scale (£20.95) Amazon - A must for every kitchen. With these electronic scales you can reset to zero for each new ingredient. Do it all in one bowl. Such a time saver and such a pretty colour.

16.  Heart to Heart (£17.45) Godminster -  Vintage Organic Cheddar (200g) and a Heart-Shaped Organic Brie (150g) presented in its very own unique gift box. This one is for food lovers. The cheddar is particularly good. It's creamy, with a strong tangy flavour. *heads to the kitchen to eat some*
17.  About Time (£10) Asda - The latest romantic comedy on DVD to warm your heart.  It's a Richard Curtis Film (Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral). It's wonderful! It made me cry. I don't cry at films. You have to watch it. Cuddle up on the sofa to watch it with a bottle of wine and some nibbles.
18.  Personalised Tree Trunk Print (£15) notonthehighstreet.com - Don't want to deface a tree with your names, then go for something a bit more stylish and order one of these gorgeous tree prints. It'll make you smile every time you look at it.

19.  Baby Personalised 'Is For' Playsuit (£17.60) notonthehighstreet - aren't these cute? Little personalised playsuits for tots. A bit like the frame, these give the meaning of your child's name. A nice keepsake too.
20.  Personalised Never Forget Wooden Keyring (£13) notonthehighstreetcom - There's two ways of looking at this gift. It's either for that partner that always forgets important dates or as a love token.
21.  Strawberry Heart Lick (£2.50) Hotel Chocolat - Creamy strawberry milk chocolate in an intricately cute lollypop. Slurp!

I hope you have been inspired by my gift guide.

Happy Valentines Day!

Disclosure: Asda, Hotel Chocolat, Filofax,  Thorntons, Salter and M&S sent my some Valentine products to try. The rest of the items I sourced. I was not expected to write positive reviews and any opinions expressed were my own.

  11. These are such cute ideas. I have to say that I've always been a sucker for things with hilariously bad pickup lines. Therefore, the matchbox cookies are my favorite and they definitely come the closest.

  18. What a lovely surprise to see a New Zealand wine all the way over on a Scottish gift list!

My husband and I always mark Valentines with a meal. One year we had all our friends come over for a Valentines themed potluck. That was a fun way to celebrate with our single friends. This year we will be at 3 day festival so will be celebrating with thousands of other people in Valentines fancy dress.
