Daily Smoothies

I'm back on my smoothies.

Did I tell you I stopped making them for just over a week and came down with a chest infection?

I was struggling with the dark winter days. I was so tired and mornings were a bit of a struggle so the smoothies were given the push. It was all I could do to get us out the door in the morning.

Big mistake!

I felt even worse for not having them and then the chest infection took root.

Well I'm still hating these dark dreich days, but now I'm back on my smoothies (like this apple and kale smoothie) and definitely feeling better for it.

Melon, Spinach and Avocado Smoothie

Melon, Spinach and Avocado Smoothie

This one is a new combination for me.

Honeydew melon, frozen spinach and avocado are the main ingredients.

I had a wee taste of the avocado when I was making it. Well you have to don't you? It was difficult not to jut scoff the lot. I really do love avocado.

The smoothie itself is smooth and mellow. The flavour is fresh and creamy but there's no kick to it. You don't taste the spinach, but the melon and avocado do come through.

A real pleasure to drink.

If you don't have a powerful blender like my Optimum 9400 defrost the spinach first as it could burn out the motor in your blender. 5. Pour, sit back and enjoy!

  1. I need to come visit you (dark dreich days or not) and get some of your smoothie love. We have been non stop bundles of illness in our house and we could do with boost. Stumbles and shared too.

  2. Hi, this looks great and I'm looking forward to trying it. I'm wondering though, how much spinach is in one cube?

    1. Now that is hard to say. When I put fresh in, I add a handful. The frozen cube was about an inch long. Smoothies are not an exact science though, you can't go too far wrong.

  3. Ooh, this looks tasty! I have seen some other avocado smoothie recipes and wondered how "avocado-y" it would taste? I've seen it with cocoa powder too! Perhaps not with spinach though! Thanks for the inspiration. I am struggling with a cold at the moment and it's lingered for about 4 weeks. Maybe this could be my answer!

    1. You don't really taste the avocado although there is a creamy finish to this one. Have a go and feel better soon Karin :)

  4. I haven't tried this smoothie yet. Every time I want to make some spinach smoothie, other recipe seems better, it won't happen this time, for sure
