He has been really interested in his plants. Checking them every day and watering them with his wee watering can. Inevitably the floor gets a good watering too, but that doesn't matter. He is very good and puts his watering can away once he has finished with it.
I'm looking forward to lots of lovely basil to cook with.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

Growing Basil from Gardener's World
How to Freeze Fresh Basil from Kalyn's Kitchen
Such a strikingly beautiful kid. And he's obviously got a brilliant green thumb. I had to laugh at him watering his feet. Oh, well -- he'll grow, too.
ReplyDeleteI know, I had to change his socks after the whole watering the plants and the floor episode :)
ReplyDeleteLove the photos! And it looks like you have two handsome men in your life!
ReplyDeleteHey Kalyn, better include my husband in that too, or he may take the huff!
ReplyDeleteOh my word these are such cute pictures, Cooper is growing so fast, a real toddler now. Make the most it, they grow too quick x.
ReplyDeleteWay to quick lisa :)
ReplyDeleteToo even!
ReplyDeletecute pics...
ReplyDeleteA very fine herb is the basil. One of my favorites and can be used in a ton of stuff..Great pictures and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHe's a sweetie! I bet you're going through new socks like no-one's business! It looks like he had fun though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the basil related links, I'll enjoy checking those out!
How wonderful that you're getting Cooper excited about growing things while he is a wee lad.
ReplyDeleteSweet! I've tried twice now to grow basil but each time they have got to a point similar to your last photos and died! I know they only like wet soil, the plants themselves don't like it, so I can only imagine that I've been a bit too liberal with my watering! Good luck ;0)
ReplyDeleteThanks Chitra :)
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Jerry, I love basil. It has to be my favourite herb with coriander coming in a lose second place :)
He does like splashing about with water C, even having a drink of water can turn into a soaking :)
I don't know how much guidance I can give him Sylvie, I don't exactly have a green thumb. I never go much beyond herbs, tomatoes, chillies and strawberries. Hey, actually that isn't too bad is it?
Oh my, they might not have much of a chance with Cooper watering them then Chele :)
so adorable!... our local garden shop had massive basil plants for sale for £2 each... i knew I should have bought them but didn't... doh!
ReplyDeleteHey Dom, It gets really expensive buying basil from supermarkets, that is why I planted some. Bet you are kicking yourself now!
ReplyDeleteAh its good to see Cooper gettign his little mitts grubby. You'll seen be getting him his own little wellies.
ReplyDeleteBasil is one herb I don't seem to grow well from seed :( Looking forward to seeing yours prosper.
Also Thanks for the link to the Cauliflower Pie recipe, I forgot about it.
He has wee wellies for going to the beach Shaheen. The cauliflower pie is a rather nice recipe. Yum!
ReplyDeletenever had basil in our garden but would love it - am sure you will make good use of it - and that cooper will love it because he grew it - don't babies love dirt and water - great channeling of these loves - he looks like such a big boy
ReplyDeleteHe is really enjoying it Johanna and he already likes pesto, which I am sure I will be making lots of, so we are a step ahead :)
ReplyDeleteAlan Titchmarsh watch out...there's a new gardener in town!
ReplyDeleteI'm growing Basil on my windowsill at the moment and it's doing really well.
How sweet your little guy is. I can't believe how much he has grown.
ReplyDeleteWe decided to plant some basil here this year too, along with a selection of other herbs.
He is so adorable!! I love this series of photos, Jacqueline.
ReplyDeleteI love fresh basil. The photos are so cute - he is darling!
ReplyDeleteLovely pics and what a cute project! You've inspired me now to plant some with my little 'uns! Great recipes links too, some really yummy ones to try!
ReplyDeleteI always grow basil in the summer, but like you, I have to keep it inside. I usually put a plastic bag over the pots to make mini greenhouses and it germinates in a couple of days. Looking forward to seeing your seeds coming through.

ReplyDeleteOur basil is growing slowly CC, although Cooper's pots seem more successful than mine. He really must have green fingers :)
ReplyDeleteI Bet you have chillies on the go too Lisa :)
Thanks Barbara :)
Me too, basil is my absolute favourite Pam :)
I am sure they will have great fun planting some herbs Ren :)
Maybe I should try the plastic bags and see if they come on quicker Janice :)
So cute, I love it when the kids help out, often there's more soil out of the pot than in but that's part of the fun isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't too bad actually Sarah and the newspaper really helped with the clearing up. It seems to be the watering that is more messy with water everywhere, hehe!
