I am playing catch up, so this is a double whammy of a post.
First up I would like to introduce you to the Fife Baking Club. Yes, a lovely bunch of ladies. No men yet, but I plan on changing that by taking Stuart aka Cakeyboi with me to the next meeting.
The Fife Baking Club is the brainchild of my beautiful cousin Claire (stripey red top) who writes A Kiss of Cookies (occasionally). Claire had been thinking of setting up a cake club for a while and after a visit to the Edinburgh Cake Ladies (don't mention Colin Firth, he was in the room and she missed him, sheesh!), she bit the bullet and set up her first meeting.
Her first venue and one I think we will be returning to was Reuben's Cafe Deli, a friendly cafe deli in the heart of Dunfermline.
She decided to go easy on us and let us choose what to bake. It resulted in a wonderfully wide range of slurpingly good cakes and a rather spectacular sundried tomato & rosemary loaf, which was a lovely break from all the sugar.
We had an excellent night.

And now on to this weekend. I am very excited to be going to the inaugural Scottish Food Bloggers Conference in Ayr. It heralds the start of the Scottish Food Fortnight, which encompasses a plethora of foodie events across Scotland from the 1st to the 16th of September 2012.

I would like to thank Scotty Brand for sponsoring me to go to the conference. Scotty Brand have been a great company to work with. Delicious, fresh Scottish produce, a very friendly bunch of people, a fun trip to see a preview of Brave with wee Cooper and now sponsorship. A big thumbs up to the team at Scotty Brand.
So our first Food Blogger's Conference in Scotland.......
Would you like to see the itinerary? I thought you would.
This jam packed full day event will feature a spectacular local food tasting lunch with lots of opportunity to network with fellow food bloggers. We're keeping it cosy with around 20 attendees including food bloggers, restaurateurs and marketing staff all interested in food blogging. ReplyDeleteI have two copies, haha!
ReplyDeleteOh and it's not midnight yet, get out and buy a copy!!!
DeleteHave fun at the conference. I will read the follow up with interest :)

ReplyDeletelooking forward to seeing you there. never been to a conference before so not sure what to expect, but really really looking forward to it. 1 more sleep,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being in the paper and on your sponsorship.
Must be quite a long cake meeting time you cookk, cool and decorate but all looks very very lovely.
We make all our cakes before we meet up, but yes, it does take up a lot of a Sunday. But, a good time is had by all.
DeleteSee you tomorrow :)
Another cake club Jac - my goodness, that is a lot of cake. The Scottish Food Bloggers Conference sounds great, hope it goes well.
ReplyDeleteI know, but I did want to support Claire and they are such good fun. Luckily this one is only bi-monthly :)
DeleteOh, how fun (on both accounts)! I love the idea of the baking club...wonder if I could get something like that going around here. And I still haven't attended any blogger's conferences (though I want to)...one day...
ReplyDeleteYou should start your own baking or cake club. Both Claire and I found it was really easy to drum up a bit of interest. Everyone loves cake.
DeleteLOL=) Just saw your last paragraph! What a host of delicious cakes, how do manage to have a taste of all of them (which I'd have to) and not be exceedingly full? Ah maybe that's were the fasting comes in handy!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, well done on your feature in Daily Record, would love to read it, is it on-line at all?
Hi Camilla, the secret is the smallest of slithers. I didn't manage them all. I tasted about 4 and a bit of bread.
DeleteYou should be able to click on the photo in twitter, enlarge it and scroll down to read it.
Congratulations on your 15 minutes of fame :) The conference sounds really good - I'm so envious! It's just a little too far for me but I see you will be in good company. Looking forward to the gossip and photos!
ReplyDeleteIt was great Ros. Have loads of notes. Hope they make sense when I read them back :)
DeleteSounds great fun! Lovely article in Vegetarian Living xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran. It was a bit disjointed, but ok. Pleased to appear in such a good mag.
Deleteoooo!! exciting times. Congratulations and have a great time at the conference xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa, It was great :)
DeleteThanks for the lovely article on the first Fife Baking Club and please do bring along Cakeyboi. I love the dig about occassionally writing for A Kiss of Cookies and I really must get a move on a put some new stuff on it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your piece in the Daily Record. Mum didn't even notice you and had to get the paper back out of the recycle bin to look at it again.
Oh for goodness sake and yet she recognised me in the photo from about 10 years ago.
DeleteYes, Stuart is hoping to come.
You really must blog more. We were looking at your blog today at the conference.
I saw you in the Record! Congratulations! What a lovely photo. I was supposed to call that reporter back too but just didn't get round to it. Kinda wish I had now... Nevermind. Lovely to read all about you. :) Have fun at the conference! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy, i must have been second choice then, haha :)
DeleteThe conference was great, pity you couldn't make it.
Oh, no! Absolutely sure you would have been first choice. You're a far more dedicated and prolific Scottish food blogger than I am! :)
ReplyDeleteAyrshire was a bit too far for me this time. Maybe next time. Would be fun to meet other bloggers, even if I am a bit half-hearted about my own blog just now. x
To meet yourself, especially, I meant to add. :)
DeleteHi Wendy, thanks for that, but I think we can both be pleased about how well our blogs have done. It would be great to meet you sometime. Hopefully you can make it next year.
DeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteHow do you join the Fife Baking Club? I love baking (and I equally love Reubin's Cafe and Deli!). I would be interested in joining x
Send me an email and I will send on Claire's details :)
