No Croutons Required - Sandwiches

It is the start of another month and the year is whizzing by at a rate of knots.
(must "avoid cliches like the plague!" -John Cooke)

For this month's No Croutons Required, I would like to focus on what is often served alongside soup or a salad. I am thinking of the humble sandwich.

Toasted or plain, I would like you to come up with an interesting sandwich. The only stipulation is that it must be suitable for vegetarians. Here are a few ideas to inspire you:

  • Artisan Bread
  • Bagel
  • Baguette
  • Bloomer
  • Brioche
  • Chapati
  • Ciabatta
  • Crêpe
  • Croissant
  • Crumpet
  • Flatbread
  • Focaccia
  • Muffin
  • Panini
  • Pitta Bread
  • Roll
  • Sliced Bread
  • Soda Bread
  • Sourdough
  • Taco
  • Toast
  • Tortilla Wrap

  • Entries must be in by 20 October 2012.

Good luck everyone! I look forward to receiving your entries.

  1. Interesting theme... especially since I don't eat sandwiches that often. We'll see what I come up with.

  2. Oh, I do hope you take up the challenge then Janet. I am sure you can come up with something super healthy and tasty :)

  3. Great theme Jac, though I rarely eat sandwiches. I will see what I can come up with.

    1. Great Lisa. I did want to go for something a bit different :)

  4. Yum! Will definitely try to take part this month. Does the recipe have to be made up or taken from a book/ magazine?

    1. It is up to you Lyndsey, make your own or take inspiration from a recipe :)

  5. Nothing better than a good sandwich!

    1. Indeed Janice, so I am hoping you will enter one :D

  6. now, this competition seems perfect for my lunch today! gotta remember to take the camera to uni :)

  7. hurrah - I am the first to enter this month! I drew a blank and then decided the tacos I was making for dinner would fit the bill perfectly - even though the salad (or salsa) I was making went in them rather than alongside! Will be interested to see what others come up with

  8. Just entered this month! Hoooray! Karen
