This is my second year at Food Blogger Connect. There were highs and lows. The weather was fabulous. The company terrific. The food was varied. The hotel was clean and nearby. There was tequila cocktails on tap and shots of smoothies and oat milk. Sometimes there was a decent meal for veggies but at other times there wasn't, quite often because vendors didn't use a separate cooking area or tools. The break off labs were inspiring, but the talks in the main hall were hard to hear and a bit 'meh'. All in all it was rather fabulous!
This week I want to share some photos and pass on some tips to bloggers and would be bloggers. For my other readers I will be posting the most droolworthy vegetarian dish of the day, so there will be something for everyone.
Veggie Recipe of the Day
by eCurry
It was a fab weekend , I loved catching up with you and meeting Stuart too.
ReplyDeleteIt was great fun. Nice catching up too. I think Stuart really enjoyed it too.
DeleteDid you know that tequila and triple sec are vegan? ;) Just saying, like...
ReplyDeleteYay! Well that's it then!
DeleteThat is a brilliant factoid!
DeleteI liked it :)
DeleteI had a great weekend and it was fab to meet up again. GG
ReplyDeleteIt was, it was fun and over so quickly.
DeleteIt was a lovely weekend wasn't it. Such a shame you didn't get to try all the veggie food as it was cooked in the same places as the meat, it was generally super-delish. Lovely looking veggie recipe of the day Jac, shall bob over and have a look.
ReplyDeleteAch well, it's just one of those things Lou. I certainly didn't starve :)
DeleteLovely weekend. It was great to catch up with all lovely foodies :) I'm drooling over this pasta right now!
ReplyDeleteIt looks good doesn't if and it was such a good weekend. I'm looking forward to next year already.
Deleteooh I'd love to go along to one of these, I'm moving to Germany in July so won't be too far away :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Well I hope to see you next year then Cate :)
DeleteThis is going to be really good- can't wait for your next posts when you share some of the tips you learned; thanks so much. I'd love to go to this event, but I think it's really bad about the veg/vegan catering being cross contaminated with non-veg. We are not living in the dark ages; maybe they should invite some veg/ vegan bloggers to cater for them?
ReplyDeleteI know, it shouldn't happen, but it does. Luckily there was a vegan canape stand and an Eastern Mediterannean stand with lots of lovely salads, hummus, labneh and pitta. Oh and the tequila cocktail stand :) Now I shall have to decide what post to put up first.
DeleteOk so you didn't starve then; that's good- and I'm even keener to hear about those canapes and Eastern Med dishes...
DeleteI have some photos that will go up later in the week and I am going to have a bash at making the labneh. It was divine!
DeleteLOVELY to see you Jac and what a FAB time we had eh? FAB! Karen xxx
ReplyDeleteIt was such a fun weekend and nice to have hot sunshine. Back to rain now up in Scotland
DeleteSounds like you had a good weekend - especially with all the tequila. Shame that there still wasn't enough veggie food this year either. I do eat meat, but I don't want all my meals to be meat, so I understand your frustration (I was a veggie for 9 years too). Hopefully I will be able to go to FBC next year...
ReplyDeleteAhhhh it was fine in the end. Only left for one lunch. Managed the rest of the time.
DeleteWhat fun!! lucky you - thanks for taking us along!
ReplyDeletemary
I know very lucky :)
DeleteSounds like you all had a brilliant time and with on-tap cocktails I'm not surprised!
ReplyDeleteHaha, they certainly helped :)
DeleteNice post, love your photos. It was great to spend so much time with the people we correspond with on Facebook so much. Cheers (wishes I had a Patron Tequila in hand!) H
ReplyDeleteI know it is great having the chance to meet everyone in person. Yes to the Patron too!
DeleteAfter writing Gerry's Kitchen for two years, things at beginning to pick up at crazy speeds. Maybe next year I'll see you
ReplyDeleteThat would be good Gerry. It's always great to meet other food bloggers. Keep a look out for the rest of my posts and tips this week.
DeleteBeen following folks tweets about it to try and get a sense of it, so look forward to your write ups... From people's photos it looked quite quiet in the sessions, but there seemed to be loads food things - was it a busy conference?
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of people there, but 3 different sessions on at once, so the main hall wasn't always full. It was good though and well worth it. The labs very particularly good.
DeleteI feel very envious of you all - that MFK Fisher quote in the first pic is so perfect I want to cry because I'll never write anything as good as that. Sigh. Is that why the rest of you turned to cocktails?!
ReplyDeleteI know it was a great quote and yes hence the tequila, lol!
DeleteReally missed FBC this year - roll on next year!!! Lovely to see your pics and read your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteAh well you are otherwise engaged Ren, but yes, will be lovely to see you next year.
DeleteI'm really hoping to get to FBC next year, I'm always very envious when I read the tweets coming in and then the log posts after!
ReplyDeleteOh well hopefully then. I used to be the same, but make a point of going now. The secret is to save now and book everything early so you get cheap hotel, flights, rail etc.
DeleteGlad that you enjoyed FBC and I'm in full agreement with you regarding the food, I felt it was a bit too stodgy... Our salad bar trader (which was sounding very lush) dropped out a bit last minute but we had felt we still had enough veg dishes on offer. I guess not. We'll be sending out surveys soon. Thanks again x
ReplyDeleteOh a salad bar would have been great. There was only the one lunch time where we had to leave for food. The middle eastern food saved the day really.. A great weekend Bethany.
DeleteI am already missing the great weekend that we had and cant wait for next year. Lots of very fab tips and information that we could all use to move our blogs forward.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bintu. It was fun catching up with you again.
DeleteSuch a great weekend Jac, and wonderful to finally meet you :-) It all felt very empowering too being amongst so many inspiring people.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to meet you too and very inspiring. We did hatch a plan or two.
