Meat Free Mondays - 7 Recipes for the Week Ahead (27 June 2016)

I think it's safe to say here in Britain we;re reeling from the EU Referendum. It seems there was absolutely no plan as to what would happen if we voted leave. Heaven help us.

On a more positive note, here in Scotland we have Nicola Sturgeon, leader of the SNP and First Minister of Scotland, who does have a plan and is setting it in action. Thank goodness there is some sanity in evidence. I'm glad we have her looking out for us.

On the home front, we've been enjoying the sunshine and getting out for lots of dog walks. It really blows the cobwebs away.

On the meal front I've only been organised with lunches. Roast vegetables and grains cooked ahead and stacked in the fridge as a base of some tasty lunches. I'm about to head into the kitchen and sort our lunches for tomorrow.

For BabyCentre UK this week I put together a piece on 19 foods you can freeze so you always have essentials.

So are you ready for some inspiration for the week ahead?

Thanks to everyone who created a recipe for us this week.

  1. My dear, we are just reeling FOR you over here; so sorry about the nonsense, it's like a nightmare from which one cannot wake, isn't it? (We feel the same about Trump!!!!!) Definitely glad you all have a wiser head of state.

The weather is scorching just now, so it's back to the grill, and grilling portabella for pizza bases is the thing now. Really tasty with all the fresh basil. Cooking rice and orzo ahead of the week sounds like a great idea; just have no get-up-and-go left for making anything too exciting.

    Chin up,

    1. I know, I hope sense prevails in the US. Sounds like a plan re the food though. Have a good summer xx

  2. Thanks so much for including my orzo salad!

I feel you, I have not been organized at all except for my lunches. I'll have to try a few of the Meatless Monday meals you have shared. :)

  3. These are very unsettling times indeed, at least you have Nicola Sturgeon in your corner! I wish we had someone like here down here. Anyways, I am making your split pea soup this evening, I usually do Nigella's but I think the cumin will make a nice change from chillis. Thanks Jac xx

    1. Yes we are lucky. I hope it all works out and enjoy your soup xx

  4. Thank you so much for hosting and including my Maqluba, I am joining in once again this week.

  5. Thanks for featuring the tangine I posted. I imagine the whole Brexit result has made life seem less certain than a week or two ago. We had an election yesterday and are still waiting to hear the results because they are so close. Hope Nicola is able to deliver for Scotland.

    1. That's ok and yes you are right. I hope you have a better outcome.
