A Very Veggie Christmas with M&S

This is not just any Christmas, this is an veggie M&S Christmas.

I used to cook everything from scratch for Christmas breakfast, lunch and dinner. And how did that go? Well I spent the whole day in the kitchen and missed all the fun and my wee boy's excitement. Now I make a few things, but I buy a few things in too. Just to make life easier and that's where M&S come in.

We've missed the date for Christmas Food to Order, but there's plenty of choice in store and actually this gives your more options to suit everyone, including children and your gluten free or vegan guests.

The Roasted Butternut, Almond and Pecan Nut Roast comes with a red wine and thyme gravy. Serve it with a fresh and colourful mix of buttery, sautéed green beans and chunky slices of carrot, drizzled with a little honey and sprinkled with lemon zest.
Complement the sweet and savoury flavours of honey-roast parsnips, shallots and thyme in parsnip, camembert and chestnut pithivier, with vibrant steamed greens tossed in butter and balsamic vinegar.
For a traditional-looking vegetarian centrepiece with the wow factor, try the Mushroom Wellington. Golden pastry is wrapped around portobello and white-cap mushrooms in a creamy sherry and spinach sauce. Pair it with diced squash, roasted with garlic, seasoning, sage leaves and a pinch of chilli, if you like.

These Red Cabbage and Squash Filo Parcels, come in a pack of two and are vegan. Serve them with  the Festive Parsnip and Mulled Onion Roast which is also vegan along with some roast potatoes, vegetables and an onion gravy.
There is also a big selection of ready prepared vegetables, salad and quiche to choose from. There is a huge selection of Frozen and chilled desserts to choose from as well as Christmas cake and mince pies.

The Collection Six-month-matured Snowflake and Bauble Garland Christmas Cake is packed with brandy-soaked sultanas, raisins, Vostizza currants, glacé cherries and almonds, under layers of marzipan and soft icing topped with edible decorations.

For gluten-free guests try the Made Without Wheat six-month matured Holly Tree Christmas Cake, which is a BBC Good Food award-winner. Hand-decorated and full of Cognac- and port-soaked fruit, it pairs beautifully with mature Stilton

M&S have a vast range of wines, ciders, craft beers, champagne and prosecco to choose from for the big day. Have a good browse when you are in store for special offers. And for Christmas morning, don't forget to pick up a few bottles of their Clementine and Cranberry Bucks Fizz or some rather tasty Kir Royale.

Remember to stock up on nibbles too. M&S do a great selection of nuts in tubs as well as their extra special season crisps. This year there are some really nice options including bloody mary. Of course I had to try them to make sure they were ok. They are more than ok, they are sensational.

Oh and don't forget to pick up jars of cranberry sauce, pickles and a variety of cheese and biscuits as well as a decent selection of chocolate for your guests to nibble on.

I hope I have given you plenty of ideas to help Christmas Day pass smoothly and for you to have more time to relax. Pop into M&S this week and stock up at the same time as lowering your stress levels.

  7. I think a veggie Christmas actually needs more thought and planning, anyone can shove a joint of meat in the oven to roast and it's easy and tasty, but for great veggie food, it's definitely worth going for high quality ready made.

  8. Wow they really do have Christmas covered! Thanks for the round-up. I've forwarded on to my parents who are a bit stressed about catering for my veggie OH this year :) hopefully will give them a few options!
