Mangolicious Shake

Mango and Banana Shake

You'll know by now of my quest to get as much fruit and veg into Cooper as possible. I try to make sure he has plenty over the course of the day, but the ones he's not so keen on eating, well I whizz them into smoothies and shakes.

Today's delicacy is a shake. A mangolicious shake.

It's a mango and banana shake with all sorts of good stuff in it. Banana, orange juice, Greek yoghurt, milk, baobab powder and I used frozen mango, so I didn't need to add ice. I enjoyed a glass too and I can report it was really good.

Shake, shake, shake Senora!

  2. What a great idea! I haven't tried my little boy on anything like this and I bet he would love it. He seems to have a sudden aversion to bananas and I have a fruit bowl full of them so might try this! I bet it would be delicious frozen in ice lolly moulds too when the weather is warmer.

  6. I always struggle with the texture of smoothies but this one looks delicious - I presume that tinned mango could be used. I bet my little man would love this.

    1. You could Lorna. If the texture isn't right, try adding fruit juice and ice for a thinner and smoother texture. The ice really makes a difference.

  9. I love smoothies and have them often for breakfast. I've never heard of baobab though. Having looked it up now, I see it's a fruit. What is the flavor like?

    1. You actually buy it in powder form here in the uk. I don't add it so much fr flavour, but for the nutrient boost it gives. It's known as a super fruit. I sometimes add it to Cooper's porridge too.

  10. These sound delicious. Do you freeze your own mango? If so how do you? Chop it and peel it, freeze on a tray then bag up?

    1. No, I just buy frozen mango. I use both fresh and frozen depending what I have and if the fresh is ripe. The frozen mango is actually really good.

  11. I'm not a shake person, but intrigued by the baobab powder - does it taste of much?

    1. No, not really, the powder has a slight tang or bitterness to it, but you don't notice if you just add one teaspoon of powder.

  12. I didn't know you could buy frozen mango - what a good idea. I love mango, but trying to prepare fresh ones is a bit of a pain. This shake sounds delicious and the addition of baobab powder has got to be good - I still haven't tried it.
