Lunchbox Wrap

Yeah, I know. Yet another wrap. What can I say? I'm on a roll (excuse the pun).

I just keep thinking up new ideas like these green power lunch wraps.

We all like a bit of variety in our lunches, but we all too often eat the same lunch over and over. It seems to have become my mission to change that with lots of new sandwiches and wraps

I'll keep them coming as long as I have new ideas and until you say stop!

Top 3 veggie lunch wraps

beet salad wrap, spicy bean wrap and carrot and spinach lunch wraps

My top three and latest lunch wraps are my beet salad lunch wrap, in which I use sweet pickled baby beets for tang, my spicy bean lunch wraps which are a copycat vegan version of a Tesco one and my carrot and spinach crunch lunch wrap which is my husband's favourite.

Needless to say Cooper won't eat any of these. He'll eat my veggie chilli on a wrap with sour cream and grated cheddar or for lunch he will accept a wrap with cream cheese and falafel. That's it! No variety and nothing new. *sigh*

His sandwich choices are equally limited, he'll have a sandwich with peanut butter and jam, butter and jam or peanut butter and nutella.

So sandwiches don't happen too often. I usually give him some crunchy veg, falafel and hummus, homemade soup or something pastry based with salad. You can look at some of my kids suggestions in my food guide - 10 vegan lunchbox ideas for kids.

Graham and I are a little more adventurous with our sandwiches.

Top 3 veggie sandwiches

Falafel and apple sandwich, stacked falafel sandwich and a roast tofu and vegetable sandwich.

Falafel features in two of our top sandwiches.

The first is falafel and apple sandwich which has a nice tangy dressing,  a stacked falafel sandwich with lots of salad, sundried tomatoes and spread thickly with homemade dip and the third sandwich which features spiced roast tofu and veg with a creamy spread.

Green Power Lunch Wrap

Doesn't today's wrap look fresh and inviting?

I spread wheat and white flour tortillas with a really generous layer of cream cheese (I used Violife dairy-free cream cheese), added a generous pile of fresh baby spinach and fresh basil leaves.

I topped all that greenery with slices of creamy ripe avocado, cherry tomatoes and a drizzle of tangy sauce. It was really, really good. So fresh and tasty.

I do hope you try it soon and let me know what you think and do let me know if you would like me to share more sandwich and wrap ideas with you.

Nutrition and calories

This wrap has 317 calories, which is actually quite low for a wrap. If you want to cut the calories even further, add less cream cheese and add less or skip the sweet chilli sauce, but I say, go on enjoy it!.

This wrap is a good source of dietary fibre and provides you with 10% of your recommended daily amount of calcium, 16% iron and 12% potassium.

Healthy and delicious!

  1. Definitely keep the tasty sandwiches coming! Sympathies with the unadventurous children - though I'm impressed Cooper will eat chilli and falafel :) Mine won't eat anything saucy - but likes silken tofu. You win some you lose some!

    1. Yes I think they are all the same. To be honest my chilli isn't very spicy. It is handy that he likes falafel and he recently accepted hummus into his diet but that has taken years! And I mean years! I make chocolate mousse with silken tofu, don't really use it for anything else.

  2. Sounds delicious - Sylvia's sandwich options are really limited but I haven't had much luck lately in other options

    1. They are much the same in so many ways. I think back to when he was a baby and ate everything *sigh*. At least he is good with crunchy veg, smoothies and soups, so I get plenty of goodness into him. Funnily enough he doesn't like a lot of stuff most kids like or normal sandwich filling, but he does love samphire, asaragus and olives. He is one strange boy!

  3. This looks like a really tasty wrap Jacqueline. I have been following your sandwich and wrap recipes. I have tried the spicy bean one which I really liked. I used an extra mature cheddar in mine and it was really good. I am happy to see more lunch recipes like this. Oh and there was a new box appeared when I came to your website today, I managed to get rid of it. Jill

    1. So glad you are enjoying my sandwiches and wraps, I didn't want to start boring people with them.

The box that came up is to do with GDPR (the new data protection rules). You will see it on a lot of sites now and can just OK it if you are happy with it. Mine is to say I advertise on the site, which I didn't do for the first 10 years, but I am paying so much for all the software, camera, props, app etc for my blog that it was starting to cost me a fortune to share all my recipes, so I had to give in and have ads in the end.

  4. That does look rather fantastic! Cream cheese, avocado and tomato on ryvita with plenty of black pepper used to be one of my favourite lunches, but this looks so much more filling!

    1. I eat ryvita on my fast days, it is great for a lower calorie lunch and yes it's a good combo. I am all for lots of black pepper too.

  5. Yum! Awesome for school lunchboxes too!

  6. I do love wraps and this looks delicious and fresh!!
    Thanks for sharing

  7. That looks like a lot of beautiful power in there. The crunch seems perfect and love that there's a little sweet chili sauce. Definitely making very soon.

    1. Oh yes do make it Ginny, I am sure you would love it!

  8. These wraps contain all my favorite ingredients + sweet chili sauce! Perfect summer lunch!

  9. This recipe is right up my alley! I try to make vegetarian recipes as often as possible and this one is so simple and delicious. I'm pretty sure even my kids would love it.

  10. I'm loving all the wraps Jac - keep 'em coming! Always a bit stuck for different lunch ideas and yours all sound totally delicious!

  11. Definitely keep the wrap recipes coming! Like Cooper I'm not really a sandwich fan (unless its of the cheese toastie variety) but love a good wrap. This looks perfect for munching on after a lunchtime gym session!

    1. Oh good, I shall then and yes toasties are rather good too. Lunchtime gym session? I am impressed.

  12. You can't really go wrong with a wrap for lunch. I love all the greens that you've packed into this one. A great lunch option for kids and adults!

  13. I love all the ingredients you've used here Jac, and have a packet of wraps that need using up so this could be lunch for the next few days!
