An Autumn Giveaway

















The weather is turning, Summer has passed and the nights are drawing in. The chill in the air tells us that Winter is on the way. It is the perfect time to curl up at home with a book and a cuppa. With that in mind lets get on with the giveaway.

Returning to the Scene of the Crime

Well, not crime exactly, but definitely returning to the scene! A couple of nights ago we booked a table at Bellapais Monastry for a meal. Graham & I were married there nearly three years ago and we wanted to take Cooper along to show him where Mummy & Daddy tied the knot.

You will be impressed when you see the bread that is served at the table with chilli studded olive oil and olives. Like many of the retaurants and cafes here, they have their own bakery on the premises. The bread here is just divine.

The menu was very meat based, although there were a few pasta dishes suitable for vegetarians. Graham and I decided to combine a couple of starters instead. I had Grilled Halloumi or Hellim as it is called in this Turkish part of Cyprus, Mushrooms in Breadcrumbs Stuffed with Cream Cheese and Salad. Graham had the same, but substituted the Hellim I was having for spring rolls. There were also dishes of vegetables and potato wedges on the table for us to share. We took Cooper's dinner with us. He had a mixture of vegetables whizzed up with a little cream cheese and a piece of the village bread. As you can see from the photos, he was desperate to wash it down with some of my mother-in-law's wine. It was the most enjoyable meal and lovely to be back in such beautiful surroundings. We skipped dessert as Cooper was getting tired, but stopped for scoops of ice cream to eat on our way home.

I am cringing at adding a photo of me, post-pregnancy, but it is only fair if I am including photos of the rest of the family. *grimace*

Ice Lolly for Baby
















We all enjoy an ice lolly on a hot day. It seems a shame that baby would miss out on such a treat, but when you have a baby you are constantly on the alert for sugar, salt and other hidden nasties. I make Cooper's food, so I can be sure that whatever he eats is pure and good for him. One of the few exceptions is baby yoghurt, which is just sweetened with fruit puree and boy does he love it. So, when my mother-in-law suggested making ice lollies out of baby yoghurt, I thought it was a fabulous idea. It was so simple too. No need for lolly moulds to make these lollies. All you do is slit the lid of the yoghurt pot with a lollypop stick or do what Jean did and use a baby spoon, even easier, then just pop them in the freezer until frozen.

As you will see from the photos, Cooper loved his yoghurt ice lolly.
