Chocolate Mousse. That can't be healthy right?
It can the way I make it. Only three ingredients too. Bananas, silken tofu and cocoa powder. That's it!
A rich indulgent chocolate mousse that's good for you. Although I do admit I added some dark chocolate chips for a change this time, but you could leave those out if you like..
This luxurious mousse is made in minutes, then you just pour it into glasses and pop it in the fridge to chill until you're ready to serve it.

New products at M&S
I picked up the silken tofu when I was in M&S. They now sell a fabulous range of products from Clearspring, who are well known as the people who bring us premium and organic Japanese products which are all vegetarian or vegan. M&S are stocking organic tofu, sushi ginger wasabi powder, organic white miso, organic sushi rice, toasted sushi nori, organic instant miso soup with sea vegetables and rice miring.
Tofu at M&S
As well as all the new veggie and vegan products at M&S, including salads, ready meals and sandwiches, I think I have been most excited about their range of tofu. It's what I need when I'm in there picking up fruit, veg and other bits and pieces to create new recipes. They have silken tofu which I made this mousse with, firm tofu, which I am planning to make skewers with soon and sesame, chilli and coriander tofu which is ready prepared and spiced. I used it in my vegan sloppy joes which where sensational!

Back to the mousse
I whizzed up this mousse in my power blender. It's fabulous for quick recipes like this. Just throw the ingredients in and you have a super smooth mousse in seconds with no effort at all. All that deliciousness and healthy too.
Then I poured in some chocolate chips, haha. Well as I said it's your choice if you add them.

Power blender
In case you are wondering I use the Optimum 9400 from Froothie. I've been using it for years now and it's my favourite piece of kit. Froothie have it on sale just now with £60 off taking it down to £339 and they have given me a further £20 off to offer you (taking it down to £319) along with free delivery. Just add the code AMB20 + 1405 in the comment box if you decide to treat yourself to one.

Healthy Chocolate Mousse
You may have scoffed when I called this healthy chocolate mousse, but it really is. It's low in calories and saturated fat, it's a good source of dietary fibre and protein and includes calcium, iron and protein.
Perfect if you are watching your weight or following the 5:2 diet.

If you like this low calorie, but sumptuous chocolate mousse you may like my coconut fruit salad which it utterly delicious and only 174 calories.
Disclosure: I am working with M&S to promote some of their new veggie and vegan product and I also included an affiliate link for my favourite blender (I receive a small payment if you buy one, which helps pay for this site). I was not expected to write a positive review and any opinions expressed are my own.
I think that silken tofu is one of the most under-appreciated ingredients in the kitchen! It makes the most delicious desserts, and your chocolate mousse is a great example! Also, great to see M&S offering wider variety of vegan products!
ReplyDeleteYes it makes fabulous desserts dressing and dips and it's so easy to use for a creamy finish. No pressing either.
DeleteI have never even heard of silken tofu but this chocolate mousse sounds wonderful and like a treat I could totally have at night when my sweettooth takes over without destroying my hard work of exercise during the day! It sounds really chocolatey!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great product for desserts, dips and sauces if you want a creamy finish. It has a milky flavour so it really is just for adding that texture, not for adding flavour.
DeleteSilken tofu always comes through for the tastiest treats! Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteYes it's great stuff.
DeleteSilken tofu is one of those super secret ingredients. Everyone wonders where the creaminess came from with out any cream!
ReplyDeleteYes exactly, it's handy to have some in your cupboard for whipping up quick recipes.
DeleteI love your banner!!! The whole tablescape is great, too. I was enthralled even before I read the recipe (which is the bomb, btw.)
ReplyDeleteThank you Maqhi :)
DeleteI love secretly healthy recipes like this one! It looks so chocolatey and delicious!
ReplyDeleteI know, me too Liz x
DeleteI bet this is tasty!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's super chocolatey
DeleteNow I had no idea you can use tofu to make desserts! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, as long as you use silken tofu, which is perfectly creamy.
DeleteI love chocolate mousse 😍 . Never tried it with silken tofu yet, I usually take avocado ( which makes it less figure friendly ;-)). Love to try your recipe Jacquelne.
ReplyDeleteReally need to come to the UK to get the new products of M&S at hand.
regards
Claudia
Do try it and yes M&S are doing wonderful things for vegetarians and vegans.
DeleteThe first time I used silken tofu was in the early '80s; I saw it in a health food shop, and was intrigued. I'd been eating it in Asian restaurants since I was a child but had never cooked with it. The carton had a recipe for chocolate pudding on it, so I thought I'd makeit, and bought all the ingredients. Except it wasn't chocolate pudding, it was carob, and instead of sugar it used Splenda (or something similar). Not only was the 'chocolate' completely fraudulent, the sugar sub also left a disgustingly bitter after taste. It was a complete disaster!
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd ever come across anything as revolting, but a few years ago, a friend was doing Slimming World, and told me the leader suggested mixing a sachet of Chocolate Mint Hi-Lights (y'know, the low-cal hot choc drink) with a small tub of Greek yoghurt. Not sure who felt more ill, me or my friend!
Your chocolate mousse however, looks and sounds completely delicious... with zero need for a barf bag! ;-) xx
Oh no, what a bad introduction to silken tofu Nic and your friend's idea isn't one I will be trying soon, but this one I can assure you is really good.
DeleteI didn't realise that M&S were now selling tofu, so thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it next time I'm there.
ReplyDeleteI love making chocolate mousse with silken tofu too. I never got into the avocado mousse thing as I can always detect the avocado which I find a bit off putting. I do love avocado, just not in my sweets!
Yes and three types of tofu, hurray! I haven't tried the avocado pudding either, I prefer just to eat them plain.
DeleteAnything that's vegan is always a joy to make - and usually healthier. Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you there Diana. I hope you try it :)
DeleteThe combination of chocolate and banana can never go wrong...the mousse is rich, creamy and sweet...Very unique and a must try!
ReplyDeleteOh yes you are so right.
DeleteYour healthy chocolate mousse is awesome! Although I always eat healthy food , I'm a crazy of chocolate mousse however fat they are xD
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can find silked tofu at my area for now :( I hope there's not any much difference about how delish it is in this recipe!!
If there are any Asian supermarkets in your area you should be able to buy silke n tofu Natalie or maybe online?
DeleteAh sure. Got it ;)
DeleteOoh I didn't know M & S were selling tofu now. Silken tofu is brilliant for chocolate mousse and your addition of choc chips is a must for sure :)
